BOLLYWOOD EXPLORED
BOLLYWOOD CHARM
The Rising INDIA!
I say this , because from what was earlier thought about INDIA, it has now completely changed its image and emerged as a global player. Today India has broken its own barrier to fly high and have reached the growth rate of 8.1% per annum. Today INDIA is not just a name but a "BRAND" with a hub of investment opportunities.
First the IT sector made the world recognize India as the next IT hub and then the big stock market run or the bull run as it is famously said has even defeated Dow Jones of USA and is currently healthy at 11700 pts. The new India has all the support and trust from international investors who have gained substantially in the Bull run.
The next big thing happening to INDIA is its entertainment industry- BOLLYWOOD
Today bollywood is all capable of competing the ever mighty hollywood in facts and figures. This industry has also been described as a major role player in Indian economy development. With $8 billion currently it promises to double by 2010.
From just producing over few films in a year and that too in black and white in 1950s to producing over 800 films a year with the best drama, action, animation and scrip in 2005, Bollywood has had a long journey before actual recognition.
With actors like Jackie Chain , William Simth coming to India and saluting the ever growing Indian film industry , it is evident that this industry has achieved its status and honours from international stages.
LAGAAN – The Indian Oscar nominee has uplifted the standards of Indian cinema.
Bolly wood today is the most investor friendly industry with as many investment options as one can think of. The government of India has also recognized this and so invites investments from foreign collaborations and investments from NRIs.
With low production cost, it has already achieved a status of outsourcing production and post production work to India from countries like U.S and U.K.
India has always tried to maintain its quality with most economic labour cost. This has gained India and bollywood a remark of perfectionist!
Apart from this, many Indian actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and A.R.Rahman have been given international accredition for their work in their field.
Best part about bollywood is yet to come – ‘cos no producer ever looses his money. This could also be explained . Since production cost are low, a producer at least covers its cost even if the film doesn’t work by selling music rights and through repeat sales in years to come!!
This explains how proudly the bollywood industry digests over 800 films a year and still is making profits!!!
The major role played in any industry is money. Bollywood too has been highly attractive with NRI investments. NRIs have already invested in some of the big hits of Bollywood.
With growing demand of Indian films outside the country, it is attracting more and more
of NRIs to invest in their homeland.
There are many ways through which a NRI can invest.
Ideally an NRI invests through an IPO or through his personal contacts. Some private equity investors include GW Capital, ICICI Ventures, Warburg Pincus, and Trans-atlantic Ventures.
But other ways of investing and making it a profitable business would be to open up a production house in India (Since he has property rights in India) and can be an important link between foreign companies and Indian majors.
NRIs can even bridge the gap of outsourcing of production and post production jobs to India, through effective marketing of Indian cost effective programs.
NRI investments will also help the Indian film industry tremendously.
Firstly it will open up new gates for organized funds. Secondly it would broden the vision of Indian producers and directors as they come in touch with big foreign entrepreneurs. Lastly it would make this industry globally more confident about its movies for Oscar and other international Awards.
Today , this industry is growing with rapid pace due to talented artist, high quality and yet cost effective production shops and above all increasing in organized funds from foreign institutes . Some institutes already invested in Bollywood include Viacom, PrexyPrexy, Erudite Capital Counsel Ltd, STAR TV, SONY, Discovery Communications, and Time Warner.
It is a win-win investments, when made in bollywood. As the investor gains and so does the industry. Today this industry is spreading its wings, far high and is attracting the best of best with its strong, investor friendly , profitable charm and with the right kind of support from government and investments from NRIs and foreign institutes, it would be fair enough to say that bollywood can not only compete but as well as defeat the biggest entertainment industry – Hollywood.
